NHL trade rumors from around the league:
- According to Hockey Night in Canada’s Elliotte Friedman, the Blue Jackets would prefer to trade Jeff Carter to the Los Angeles Kings.
- St. Louis Blues’ Ben Bishop, which has led to plenty of trade interest from suitors. TrueHockey.com’s Andy Strickland writes, “I’m told some have started to back off. Many clubs believe they might be better off signing him in the summer without having to give up anything in return.”
- The Minneapolis Star-Tribune’s Michael Russo reports that a handful of high-profile guys were at the game yesterday between the St. Louis Blues and Minnesota Wild, including the Anaheim Ducks’ Randy Carlyle, the Pittsburgh Penguins Don Waddell and the New York Rangers’ Doug Risebrough. The biggest name that the Wild could move might be Marek Zidlicky, who apparently isn’t too happy in Minnesota. But another interesting trade candidate is backup goalie Josh Harding, although none of the abovementioned teams would be particulary interested.
- The next guy the Montreal Canadiens could trade is forward Andrei Kostitsyn, as Montreal Gazette’s Red Fisher writes.
- The Toronto Maple Leafs are willing to part with Mikhail Grabovski, but apparently it’ll take a lot to get him from the Leafs. The Leafs want roster players who can contribute immediately but, if it’s a package of picks and prospects, a Leafs executive told the Toronto Sun the deal would have to “blow us away.”
- There was some buzz that the Philadelphia Flyers were interested in Luke Schenn possible for James van Riemsdyk but that’s not happening any more since the Flyers added Nicklas Grossman and Pavel Kubina in the past few days.
